Statement: We Have Filed Criminal Charges Against Nine Individuals for Death Threats and Threats of Violence Ahead of the Pride Caravan in Vranje and Pirot

Today, Association Da se zna! filed a consolidated criminal complaint with the Special Prosecutor’s Office for High-Tech Crime and the Police Departments in Vranje and Pirot against nine individuals for the criminal offense of endangering safety. In comments posted on social media beneath the announcement of our visit to Vranje and Pirot on 18 July as part of the Pride Caravan, they explicitly threatened activists with violence and death should we come to these cities.

We call on the police and the prosecution to urgently identify and prosecute the individuals responsible for threatening our safety and security.

For our part, Association Da se zna! is taking all necessary security measures, including private security personnel and safety protocols governing movement and communication, in order to protect everyone participating in the Pride Caravan.
